Social Media, Managed: How To Market Your Photos and Video

Social Media, Managed: How To Market Your Photos and Video
November 13, 2020 Sierra Freeman

Did you know that 99% of Millennials and 90% of Baby Boomers begin their home search online (as opposed to in-person referrals), according to the National Association of Realtors? This major shift to online home searching, paired with the current pandemic, are two major reasons to make sure your social media is on its A-game – and the first step is getting your marketing materials uploaded to social media!

How can we at Open Homes Photography help? Well, in addition to providing premium photos, property websites, and some of the best real estate videos in California, we also make sure most of your services are in your inbox the morning after your appointment! We know that’s just the beginning of your marketing campaign, so we’ve created a few quick guides below for how to get your photos and video uploaded – and hopefully get your listing sold ASAP.

Facebook

Sharing photos:

  1. Log into your Agent Dashboard on www.OpenHomesPhotography.com. Or, you can access your “ready” email that was sent out after your appointment which contains the link to your completed photos.
  2. Download any/all the photos you’d like to post and add these to a new post or album on Facebook.

 Sharing videos:

  1. Log into your Agent Dashboard on www.OpenHomesPhotography.com. Or, you can access your “ready” email that was sent out after your appointment which contains the link to your completed videos.
  2. Click on the link for the video you want to download. Facebook does not have significant caps on the length of the videos it allows on the site, so you can post any version (Branded, Unbranded, or Teaser).
  3. On Vimeo’s site, click the gray “Download” button underneath the video.
  4. Add the video you downloaded to your Facebook as a new social media post.

Instagram

Admittedly, Instagram and Vimeo don’t make it super easy to upload photos or videos while on desktop. However, there is a workaround that we use at OHP that works well:

Sharing photos:

  1. Log into your Agent Dashboard on www.OpenHomesPhotography.com. Or, you can access your “ready” email that was sent out after your appointment which contains the link to your completed photos, videos, etc.
  2. Download any/all the photos you’d like to post and email these photos to yourself so that you can then upload them from your phone.
  3. Open Instagram on your phone and post the photos(s) in a new social media post.

Sharing videos:

  1. Log into your Agent Dashboard on www.OpenHomesPhotography.com. Or, you can access your “ready” email that was sent out after your appointment which contains the link to your Vimeo videos.
  2. Click on the link for the video you want to download. Since we’re posting to Instagram, you’ll probably want to access the Teaser due to Vimeo’s restrictions on video length.
  3. On Vimeo’s site, click the gray “Download” button underneath the video.
  4. Here’s where we have to get creative. Since Instagram doesn’t allow you to post while on desktop, we recommend sending the video you just downloaded to your own phone via text or email.
  5. Depending on how you sent the video to yourself, access the video on your mobile device. For example, if you emailed it to yourself, open your email on your phone and download the video. The goal is to get that video downloaded onto your phone so you can post it.
  6. Almost there! Open Instagram and post the video. If you downloaded it correctly onto your phone, you should be able to access the video in the Camera Roll.

Helpful hints for every post:

Your caption is almost as important as the photos and videos you’ve selected to upload. Be sure to provide enough information about the home to entice the viewer to want more information – but don’t overload them with too much information. This is also a great place to put relevant hashtags.

As always, you should also take the time to add your property’s website URL to any post you create. This will help direct viewers to your site and hopefully snag a potential buyer’s interest.
